Aquarium Tips for Tropical Fish

Mix and match aquarium inhabitants.

Not everyone just wants only fish in there aquarium. It is best to have a mix of different fish  and other inhabitants. Live coral is one thing that goes well in an aquarium and looks great. But also there are other creatures you may want to try like the Gold Maxima Clam below. You could try this with the Blue Stripe Clarkii Clownfish and an assortment of anemones.

Blue Stripe Clarkii Clownfish

The Blue Stripe Clarkii Clownfish is a color variant of the Clarkii Clownfish. The white stripes on this clown are trimmed in metallic blue. The Clarkii Clownfish generally has orange-yellow to black body coloration. Their face and tail are lighter than the rest of their body, and their white stripes are trimmed in black. Color is highly variable on Clarkii Clownfish. It is usually best to keep one clownfish per tank, though a pair can sometimes be kept if one is significantly smaller (male) than the former (female). As the fish mature, they may also become aggressive towards new arrivals or hands in the tank, so be prepared for aggression to follow even if the new fish is large in size. Clownfish are generally not fussy eaters, and will accept a range of frozen and prepared foods like flakes, pellets, and frozen formulas. They can benefit from some plant matter in their diet, although they are not considered herbivores. Tankraised clowns can be more resistant to aquarium diseases like Oodinium that can affect clownfish and other tank residents.
Compatible Anemones:-Stichodactyla sp. (Carpet Anemone)-Entacmaea quadricolor (Bubbletip Anemone)-Macrodactyla doreensis (Long tentacle Anemone)-most other common aquarium anemones. Although the interaction between anemones and clownfish is amusing to watch, it is not necessary to the survival of either animal.

 Gold Maxima Clam - Small

Maxima clams attach themselves to rock and substrate. These clams need high light and good nutrients in order to survive, as well as additional food supplements such as phytoplankton and zooplankton. Clams are wonderful additions to any reef aquaria but do have some requirements that make them more difficult than other inverts to keep. Some research is recommended before purchasing one to find out what species will work the best in your reef aquarium.
